Was it the right thing?

ïts all over" he said..I just came back home from a hard day work but to be told this was not on my To Do List. Well he just said it!! I tried to present my cooler & calmer side and told myself that I need to control my anger not because I am right or wrong but it was not the right time....

it was never easy. I look around and I don't seem to see too many happy faces either...I am still in a better position isn't it ...to be given a choice which is entirely mine...well It was few years back ...and today if i step forward or step back it will entirely be my decision :) All have been supportive and I wonder would I look back and think I could do this that way and the other way...gosh years after... I don't want to look back and say I could have done things differently ...I have always been different and I know that so well that today I so wanted to be different again but with a difference...I don't want to make the same mistake and I know it so well today that I'm smarter and will tread with eyes wide open and belief that I will not falter again ...if only I knew that was the RiGhT tHiNg:)

Are Films the ideal platform for Brands....

I have just joined MATES - The entertainment division of Madison India and well its also my first direct brush with Marketing & PR for Films. In the past few years I have seen films which made sense to me like Guide, Rang De Basanti, Good Friday, Khosla Ka Ghosla, Mithya... for the sheer brilliance of the script and to an extent films like DDLJ, Chak De and the recent Dostana. At the same time there were films like Yaadein, Virrudh or the recently released film Fashion / Dostana which made more sense to me for their association with Brands than for their cinematic values. I would also like to add that whereas Fashion & Dostana was an ideal platform and a dream for any brands to be in, I cant say the same for the other films mentioned.
Let me get back to where I started, are films an ideal platform for brands. If you ask me, yes it is. I dont think brands could have asked for more. Films are written to accomodate these brands (pun intended) and why not. With audiences choice getting complicated by the day, this is one way a producer can recover money. A smart cookie like Subhash Ghai made more bucks form Yaadein then one would expect him to... thanks to Pass Pass, Hero Honda or Coke for that matter. Otherwise God save him....And yes Madhur B & Karan J are the smart cookie of today who will make films to accomodate these brands but not without telling their story.
So if films are an ideal platform for brands thanks to these brands as well. With the kind of films one sees today producer would have never recovered half of their money. Will continue on this with comment from people who matters.... till then see ya. Muah :-)
